REST IN PEACE GURU !!! Any real Hip-hop head or music fan knows who Guru was. He has been sick for a while apparently, and just died. We all had a scare a few weeks ago with his heart attack, but we didn't expect this so soon. Here's a little rundown of Guru's work:
We all know Guru linked up with Dj Premier and formed the two-man group Gangstarr. Primo on the beats, and Guru on the rhymes. The first 12" to drop officially was "Believe Dat".
But the next 12" to drop in 1989 was "Positivity" which hit the Hip-Hop scene HARD. This track really introduced what Gangstarr could be.
From there Guru and Dj Premier dropped 6 more unbelievable albums. But in 1993 Guru decided to drop a solo jazz/hip-hop project called "Jazzmatazz". No Dj Premier on this one, but he featured some big jazz names such as Branford Marsalis, Donald Byrd, Roy Ayers, and more.
But Guru and Dj Premier haven't been talking for a while now. Thats all i have to say for now, Rest in peace Guru, and to get the full story, check out one of my favorite sites below. PEACE!!!
